Why is there a "Lake Association" if the Borough owns the Lake?
The Borough of Wenonah has always owned the Lake property. In the early days, the Lake Association
organized and operated the lake in the same way that the Wenonah Athletic Assoc organizes and operates
the kids sports programs. In the late 90s, after almost 60 years, the legal climate had changed and
the Borough felt it was best to take full responsibility for operation and membership. The borough provides
the necessary budget for the base operations, insurance and employment.
The Wenonah Lake Association was asked to continue as a non-profit civic organization chartered with the goal
of organizing social activities and fund-raisers to support the Wenonah Lake. All monies raised by the
Wenonah Lake Association are directed towards the purchase and maintenance of the equipment and activities
at the Lake which are not supported by the Borough's annual budget.
